The USA stages 11 of the venues, topped by the Final at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey. Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Houston serve as major airline hubs with intense competition and tend to be the most affordable US arrivals. The majority of arenas are NFL stadiums reconfigured for soccer, holding 60,000 to 82,000 fans.

Trip Essentials

Visa & Entry
ESTA is required for Visa Waiver nationals ($21 fee, apply online no later than 72 hours before flying). A B1/B2 visa is required for non-waiver passport holders, and turnaround can take weeks. Apply early — tournament-period demand will be very high.
Most travelers can enter visa-free for up to 180 days. On arrival you're issued an FMM tourist permit, or you can apply for it online beforehand. For trips that mix Mexico and US matches, get entry permits for each country individually.
Visa-exempt nationals need an eTA ($7 CAD, applied online). For passports that need a full visa, plan to apply early. Standard processing is fast; major events can lengthen the wait. An issued eTA stays attached to your passport for 5 years.
Currency & Costs
US Dollar (USD) is used. Credit and debit cards are accepted almost universally. Expect to tip: 18-20% at sit-down restaurants, $1-2 per drink at bars. Casual-restaurant meals run $15-25; fast food is $8-15. Concessions inside stadiums are significantly costlier.
Mexican Peso (MXN) is used. While USD is taken across tourist zones, paying in pesos lands a better exchange rate. Customary tipping runs 10-15%. Meals at local restaurants run $5-10, putting Mexico at the top for budget-friendliness. ATMs are widely available.
Canadian Dollar (CAD) is used. Cards, including contactless, are accepted across the board. Plan a 15-20% tip at restaurants. Expect US-like pricing: $15-25 per meal. Be aware that Canadian shelf prices are pre-tax, so the bill comes in 13-15% higher than the menu.
Weather (June-July)
Expect big differences city-to-city. In the south — Miami 32°C, Houston 35°C, Dallas 36°C — it's hot and humid. West Coast venues (LA 25°C, San Francisco 18°C, Seattle 22°C) are noticeably milder and drier. In the east (New York 29°C, Philadelphia 30°C, Boston 27°C), conditions are warm and humid. For outdoor stadiums: sunscreen, a hat, and stay hydrated.
Rains kick in during June. Because Mexico City is at 2,200m, daytime tops out near 25°C and evenings cool down hard. Plan for layers and a rain jacket. Guadalajara and Monterrey run hotter at 30-33°C, and more humid. Brief afternoon thunderstorms are common.
The Canadian summer at its finest. Toronto runs about 26°C, with some humidity here and there. Vancouver hovers around 22°C, with long days (up to 16 hours) and low rainfall. Outdoor events feel comfortable in either city. Pack light layers for evening match times.
Practical Info
Power: Type A/B plugs, 120V. English is the dominant language. Ride-hailing via Uber and Lyft covers every host city. Free WiFi is broadly available at hotels, cafes, and airports. Pick up an eSIM or prepaid SIM at the airport for mobile data. Public-transit coverage is mixed: very good in New York, thin in Dallas and Houston.
Power: Type A/B plugs at 127V (US-compatible). Spanish is the primary language though plenty of English is spoken in tourist districts and near the venues. Ride-hailing via Uber and DiDi works well across the three host cities. A local Telcel or AT&T Mexico SIM bought at the airport handles cheap data and calls.
Power: Type A/B at 120V (US-compatible). Toronto is English; Vancouver bilingual English/French. Uber is available in both cities. Public transit works well — TTC in Toronto, SkyTrain in Vancouver, both stadium-connected. Canadian carriers are expensive; consider an eSIM or prepaid plan as a visitor.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to book Korea-to-USA flights for World Cup 2026?

December 2025 through March 2026 is your window. Korean Air and Asiana both price economy in multiple tiers, and the cheapest two tend to disappear between mid-March and early April as the combined demand of Korean fans heading east and American fans heading to summer Asia trips clears the first fare buckets. For knockout-round dates in July, book by February to avoid the post-group-stage scramble. US carrier fares out of ICN (United, Delta) can be cheaper on off-peak dates but typically don't undercut KE or OZ on match-day peaks.

Do Korean passport holders need a US visa?

No — Korea is in the US Visa Waiver Program. Apply for ESTA at esta.cbp.dhs.gov for USD 21, valid 2 years, at least 72 hours before departure. For Canada, apply for an eTA online (CAD 7, valid 5 years). For Mexico, Korean passport holders can enter visa-free for up to 180 days with a Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) issued on arrival or via the online portal. Keep digital and paper copies on your phone and in your wallet — US CBP occasionally asks for confirmation at the gate, not just at immigration.

Should I fly Korean Air, Asiana, or a US carrier out of Incheon?

Korean Air has the most transpacific non-stops (9 US gateways direct), and KE's economy hard product on the 787-9 and A380 is among the most comfortable in the category. Asiana's SkyTeam position gives you strong US domestic onward service on Delta. United flies ICN-SFO, ICN-IAD and ICN-EWR; their Polaris business is often cheaper than KE Prestige when you catch the right fare, but economy can be mixed. If the price is close, the Korean carriers usually win on ground experience, onboard catering and baggage generosity. If price gaps are wide, take the US carrier and bank the difference for match tickets.

What's the best US gateway for following the Korean national team?

Pick your gateway based on where the Taeguk Warriors draw their group-stage matches — Korea's group distribution will determine the optimal base city. Historically, LA is a strong Korean-American hub and often the cheapest KE fare out of ICN; JFK and EWR put you inside reach of MetLife Stadium for the final; ORD, ATL and DFW are solid mid-country bases with good US onward connections. If the team is in a West Coast group, SFO or LAX keeps everything in a single time zone. For an East Coast group, JFK or EWR is the cleanest.

Can I route via Tokyo or Beijing to save money?

Sometimes. ANA and JAL via HND or NRT can undercut KE on certain dates, particularly off-peak Mondays and Tuesdays, with the upside of a free stopover in Tokyo. China Eastern and Air China via PEK or PVG are typically the cheapest one-stop options but routing through Chinese airports involves its own rules — US-bound passengers from PEK no longer transit freely, so factor in visa requirements. For most Korean travellers, a direct KE or OZ service is worth the roughly KRW 200,000 premium over a double-connection itinerary.

How do I handle multi-city travel if Korea advances through the knockouts?

Use your ESTA for unlimited US re-entries within 2 years. If Korea advances beyond the group stage, you could find yourself flying from one US coast to the other, or hopping to Mexico City and back. Build your flights in two layers: lock the ICN-US round-trip now on KE or OZ, and keep US domestic flights flexible via Southwest, JetBlue or Delta Basic Economy so you can pivot when the bracket sets. For Canada quarterfinals or semi-finals, Air Canada has strong non-stops from Toronto and Vancouver back to ICN.

Is travel insurance mandatory for Korean fans going to the USA?

Not mandatory, but strongly recommended. Korean national health insurance does not cover overseas treatment, and US emergency care regularly bills KRW 20 million and up for a single visit. Buy a policy with at least USD 100,000 medical cover, cancellation, and explicit United States inclusion — some Korean travel policies cap US hospital reimbursement at low levels. Confirm it covers match-day disruption and has a 24-hour Korean-language helpdesk; several insurers offer dedicated World Cup riders.
